Economic Overview
Japan is the third largest economy in the world. Though scarce in natural resources, Japan is among the world’s largest and most techno -logically advanced manufacturers of motor vehicles, electronics, metals, chemicals, ships etc. The country enjoys a stable political environment.
India and Japan signed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in February 2011.
Plastic Trade Overview
India and Japan engaged in bilateral merchandise trade worth USD 20.6 billion in 2021-22. During the year, India’s exports to Japan were valued at USD 6.17 billion in comparison to India’s imports worth USD 14.39 billion resulting in a trade deficit of USD 8.22 billion to India.
India’s plastics exports to Japan largely comprise of:
• Plastics raw materials (76.6%)
• Other moulded and extruded items (9.1%)
• Packaging items (3.6%)
Japan’s annual plastics imports are valued between USD 30-35 billion. Its plastic imports are largely catered to, by China (35.2%), United States (13.2%), Thailand (7.6%), and Taiwan (6.9%). India meets just 0.5% of all plastics imports of Japan and ranks 19th among 144 countries which supply plastics to the latter.

Participation Benefits – Stall Subsidy & Airfare Reimbursement:
The event has been recommended by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry for the Market Access Initiative (MAI) Scheme. Upon sanction of financial assistance, eligibility of participants for stall subsidy and airfare reimbursement shall be subject to the revised MAI guidelines.
Exhibitors are eligible to avail the stall subsidy under MAI Scheme for a maximum of three participations (including past cases) in a particular event. Exhibitors will be separately informed about the quantum of subsidy available once the same is sanctioned.
Eligible companies will be entitled for reimbursement of economy class airfare upon submission of requisite documents post-event. Only one person per company, i.e; only the Director/ Proprietor/ Partner/ Officer at senior managerial position will be eligible for airfare reimbursement.
Visa:
PLEXCONCIL shall issue the visa recommendation letter to 2 persons per company if required.
Travel Advisory:
At present, there are no travel restrictions from India to Japan for fully vaccinated Indians. With regards to COVID-19 regulations, it may be noted that Indian passengers will have to carry RTPCR Test undertaken 48 hours prior to travel with QR Code. Please check with the travel companies for more updates.
Refund Policy:
1. The participation charges are non-refundable in any circumstance.
2. The event organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel the event.
3. If there is an upward fluctuation in the currency rate, the Council may revise the participation charges and the difference shall be borne by the participant.
4. In the case of a cancellation of the entire exhibit space, the Council may collect as a cancellation charge of 40% of the total amount payable (inclusive of consumption tax) as set out in the Exhibit Space Contract if the cancellation occurs before the day that is 4 months before the first day of the Exhibition (the “Fee Change Date”)

Interested Members are requested to confirm their participation by sending the attached application form duly completed along with 50% non-refundable advance payment. Please note that application once received (via hard / soft copy) would be considered as confirmed participation and the applicant would abide with the terms & conditions of participation as mentioned by the organizers of the exhibition and Plexconcil.
